A Minneapolis-based company specializing in medical products has purchased Burger Time Corp.
Sterion Inc. announced the purchase of the drive-through, fast-food operation July 1.
“They sell a quality meal at a great price, and we’re going to continue to do that,” stated Gary Cooperud, Sterion official who will be the new president of Burger Time.
The restaurant firm has 11 outlets in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Iowa, including in Detroit Lakes.
Cooperud said changes to Burger Time may be forthcoming in the future, such as opening restaurants in other cities in the four-state area, or expanding the menu.
Detroit Lakes realtor Jack Chivers handled the sale.
“The owner (of Burger Time) selected me to handle it,” he said in a telephone interview Wednesday. “The process took a couple of years.
“It’s been a very successful business,” Chivers added. “They have a great product, a great concept… they just decided it was time for someone else to step in and take it to the next level.”
Sterion Incorporated is traded on the NASDAQ SmallCap Market under the symbol STEN. The company develops, manufactures and markets medical products, while a subsidiary, LifeSafe Services, provides emergency oxygen and related services.
