EXCITED FOR 2011The lakes are open and despite the cooler temperatures, the housing market in the lakes area is heating up.  According to the Lakes Country Association of Realtors, just in Detroit Lakes, closed sales were up in March +10.3%, from a year ago.  Jack Chivers, of Jack Chivers Realty, is excited for the selling season.  "We attended 7 home & recreation shows this past winter, from Bismarck to Minot to Grand Forks.  We talked to a lot of people who are looking for property in our area.  Our website has become so popular we often hear people tell us how they check it daily to see what's new in our area.  It's really turned into an online magazine showcasing our exclusive inventory."  This statement is evident by the numbers.  In 2009, the Jack Chivers Realty website had over 42,000 visitors and in 2010 had almost 71,000 visitors.  That's up 68% which proves what a marketing powerhouse Jack Chivers Realty is.

Jack went on to say, "Last year we did over $47 million dollars in sales, more than the number 2 and 3 agencies sold combined.  Our agents didn't stop because the national media said the housing market is in trouble.  Instead, we turned up the heat and ran open house blitzes on 5 area lakes, spent time and money on advertising and attended shows to promote our area--the hard work paid off.  Five of our agents landed in the top 10 for individual sales."  That road map is what Jack Chivers Realty will be using for another successful year.

It's not the only map Jack will be using.  His road trips all over North Dakota will be on the top of his list.  "The oil is flowing there and so is the steady stream of people coming here to play.  We'll continue our marketing campaign.  You don't stay in business over five decades listening to the national media.  You just get out there and work."
