We have been selling lake life since 1966 with Jack Chivers coming to Detroit Lakes as a sales agent that year. From jet skiing in the summer to snowmobile racing in the winter he found himself living lake life year-round. In 1980 Jack founded his own real estate agency and over the years his company name become an icon for recreational real estate sales in West Central Minnesota.
In 2014, Dirk Ockhardt bought the brand. Jack retired from the company and Dirk has since transformed a traditional real estate brokerage to a never before seen lifestyle platform about lake life. Why?
After moving from Germany to Lakes Country, Dirk expected little and had, in fact, no idea what lake life even meant. He bought a lake home and was introduced to our very unique way of life. And he quickly realized that we are not just selling real estate— we are selling a lifestyle.

The EXPO Festival is an annual event held in Fargo to celebrate lake life in the spring right before the summer season opener.

We are hosting our very own annual EXPO festival every spring to kick off another summer lake life season.
At our LAKE LIFE EXPO at the Civic Center in Fargo we have over 50 vendors on the EXPO floor, live on stage podcasts, live music, bean bag tournament, beer garden, Lakes Country food court, and after party entertainment.
